Step by Step Skin Care Regimen Using Garnier, Estèe Lauder, SHILLS & Ponds Flawless Radiance

Image
Hey there! I hope I find you well. My last posts have been about Skin Care, especially cleansing, toning and moisturizing. We all know that skin care is very important because looking good starts with beautiful skin. With beautiful skin you will feel more confident with or without makeup. My  bff Gamu Belle has shared her skin care regimen with us (yay!). I found it very informative, helpful and creative. I hope it will also be of great help to you. Here is what she shared, enjoy! 1st Step: Scrubbed with Garnier Skin Active-Pure Active 3 in 1 2nd Step: Exfoliated gently with Beauty Formula’s Australian Tea tree wash. This product is not drying, even for oily skin. 3rd Step:  Applied SHILLS Natural Science Black Mask, using fingers and making sure to leave out the little eyebrows I have. Waited 20 mins for it to dry and then peeled it off. Didn’t see blackheads on this but my face looked clean with all access oil sucked out. With this product my skin ...

Rose Water Toner: Yay or Nay?

Image
HELLO! My last post was about skin care, and I made reference to Rose water and how I use it as a toner after cleansing my face. As a toner I think it gets the job done, however, there are some things that I do not particularly like about using Rose water in general.   Before I started using it I read several reviews about how Rose water should be a beauty essential for everyone, about how it’s magic in a bottle etc. In a way it is magic in a bottle and a beauty essential mainly because it can be used on both the skin and hair. It definitely refreshes the skin, it also tightens pores, balances skin PH, and skin feels softer and smooth. In a nutshell, you do notice a difference, mostly good. However, I feel it can be a bit hash on the skin and I didn’t like the smell. I felt like it burnt my skin  and gave me a bit of a rash. My skin also felt a bit itchy when I first used it. I seriously thought that’s how it works, but when a rash appeared a few days later I w...

Dudu Osun Black Soap

Image
My Dudu Osun Black Soap Hey there! I hope that I find you all well. I have decided to write something on skincare, specifically dealing with blackheads, breakouts, scars, acne and clearing dark marks. I know there are so many ways of dealing with these skin problems; however, I am going to write about the Dudu Osun Black Soap. I know the name sounds scary and intimidating, but it is just a natural soap made from Pure honey, Shea butter, Osun (Camwood), Palm kernel oil, Cocoa pod ash, palm bunch ash, Aloe Vera, Lime juice, Water and Fragrance. I have been using it for a while now, and what I can say is it’s absolutely amazing. I would recommend it for anyone with problem skin and looking for something affordable and very effective. It is also readily available in most beauty shops and also online. As a matter of fact I have recommended it to a lot of my close friends and relatives, the results were phenomenal every time. I personally used to have dark marks and scars, ...

Finding the Right Foundation Shade

Image
Hi there, I hope I find you well. Thank you for stopping by and taking time to read. Well, let’s get straight into the business of the day which is picking the right shade of foundation. Finding the right shade is a struggle for a lot of people. I struggled with it myself for quite a while until I discovered a few ways of finding the right shade for my tone. I always picked a shade lighter or a shade darker, but never the right one. The lighter ones made me look ashy whilst the dark ones weighed down my face and took away the warmness of my skin tone. So here are a few tricks that you can use to help you find the right shade of foundation. 1.   Firstly, you need to know your skin undertone. Basically there is the warm undertone and the cool undertone. A warm undertone can be red, orange or yellow. Whilst a cool undertone can be blue or green . Most foundations are therefore made to suit the different skin undertones. Knowing one’s skin undertone will certainly make findin...

How To Make Makeup Last Longer

Image
My last few posts have basically been all about makeup application, actually basic makeup application. I did highlight that there is a lot to learn about makeup, and I will try to explain as much as possible as we go. Well, today I am going to talk about making makeup last longer. Making makeup last longer is basically about oil control. This is very important particularly for people with very oily skin. When you apply your makeup, you want it to stay in place, but however, that is not what always happens. Sometimes makeup will literally slide off the face or take another form that is different from the initial one. This may sound like a joke, but believe me it’s actually far from funny. So you might be asking, what is the best way of making it last longer on your face? Or how to make your makeup stay fresh without necessarily having to add more product? Well, there are several ways of making that happen, and I am going to be sharing them with you here. The first thing to do i...

The Power of Colour Correcting

Image
Hello! Once again I hope that I find you well. I am doing well and thank you for stopping by. So my last article was about using less makeup. So after I wrote it I started to think of the reasons why sometimes one might feel the need to apply layer upon layer of makeup. One significant reason that I thought of was the need to cover blemishes, scars, hyper pigmentation or under eye dark circles. I remember a time when I was also very conscious of the blemishes on my face. They just wouldn’t go away no matter what I did. Then I came across something called colour correcting. When I heard about it , I thought wow this could be good for me. Surprisingly, I was right! When I first  found out about it, I found that a lot of people with my skin tone (brown with a red/orange undertone) were raving about the LA Girl Orange corrector. I then decided to give it a try. Initially, I was a bit intimidated by the colour because it’s so orange and pigmented. But once I applied it my blem...

Less Is More: Makeup Application

Hi, thank you for taking time to stop by. I really appreciate it. Well, my last post was about the basic order of makeup application. I hope it helped one way or the other. Still on that note I have just decided that it would be a good idea to also address the importance of using a light hand when applying makeup, and I mean literally. This is a very touchy and controversial topic, but again one that I think is important. Imagine walking down the street and everyone is looking at you as you walk past them. Your confidence is boosted right? Ok, imagine then finding out that they were only staring at your over made up face and layers of products that you have on. That of course would be embarrassing and painful. But, when you have the correct amount on, you will certainly still look and feel beautiful. This may sound like a cliché but makeup is meant to enhance your features not change you. I understand that we live in an age where we see images of beautiful people with perfect makeu...

Back To Basics:Makeup Application

Hello! I hope I find you well. So, I have decided to write about basic makeup application, or rather  the order of application. There are a lot of people who know how to apply makeup, but sometimes knowing what to apply after what can be a nightmare, not only that but it can also result in a big “mess up” so to speak, and that is not a good thing especially if you are going for a polished look. Sometimes you can have a lot of makeup products, some really expensive too, but if you do not know what to do with them or how to use them it can be really stressful.  I have been approached by people asking me for makeup tips and how to use certain products or how to achieve a certain look. Truth is, there is a lot to learn about makeup, especially if you are a beginner. It’s a process, an art. I’m not trying to scare anyone , but there really is a lot to learn. Especially these days when new products are being introduced almost daily. However, knowing the basics will certainly sav...

Following Your Passion

Image
Hello. I hope I find you well:) Well, recently I decided to follow up on my dream and passion of writing. It is something that I had given up on and had instead resorted to focusing on other "things". However, the moment that I started writing again I realized how happy and satisfied I felt. I started asking myself why I had not been writing all along! Hmm I did not really find a justifiable reason, even though I really wanted to have one. I guess you are wondering where I am going with this, well, the point I am trying to make is that sometimes we let go of our dreams and passions without even realizing it. We get carried away and let other things get in the way, and we still try to find reasons to justify it! I do understand that sometimes certain events can make one lose focus or completely give up, but guess what?, you can still pick yourself up and keep going. One way or another you will find your joy buried somewhere in what you love doing. I am going to give you a ...

Back Again!

Image
HELLO! I hope that I find you well. I truly mean this because I have been away for a very very long time. Truly speaking, I have been soo busy with a lot of things and life literally got in the way. Therefore I did not make enough time for this blog that I started because of my passion for writing and just helping people in general. Well, now I guess I can safely say that I am back, ha ha for good this time around. I intend to give it my all this time around. I am still going to be writing about makeup and fashion, but at the same time I will also be writing about lifestyle. Well, in all aspects that is a very broad subject, but I thought I could also include other life issues on top of the fashion and the makeup. Am I making any sense? ha ha I surely hope so, but if not let me just say I sincerely hope that you will  love and certainly enjoy it. Initially I did want to focus on just fashion and makeup, but I have evolved and grown a lot since the last time I was here, I t...

SLEEK: A Little Obsessed

Image
Well, I know I have already done a review on some Sleek lipsticks but I just couldn't leave this one out, one of Sleek's finest.... Matte Me in Fandango Purple. This ultra smooth matte lip cream is a divine must-have!The color is a cross between purple and fuchsia. I have been using it for quite a while and get compliments nearly every time I wear it. It doesn't fade therefore there is little or no need to reapply during the day. It brightens pretty much any look. I really love the fact that it doesn't have any significant smell, it's nearly odorless, which is a plus. It's also very easy to apply because it comes with an applicator.I love love it!!

Revlon Colorstay Review

Image
So I have decided to do a review of Revlon Colorstay foundation.  This foundation is certainly one of my most favorite foundations. The shade that best suits my tone is cappuccino. After applying  it to my  face this foundation literally disappears, blending with my natural tone.It totally covers all my blemishes without necessarily changing my skin tone. Revlon Colorstay foundation has a silky matte finish. If you  favour the matte look then this foundation is  the way to go. However, it's important to use a moisturizer before applying this foundation. This is to prevent the skin from drying out  and looking ashy. The foundation also stays on for several hours, they say up to 24 hours but truth is I haven't kept it on for that long! But every time I apply this foundation it stays on until I wash it off with soap. It does not rub off, it literally stays put until washed off with soap. I would recommend this foundation over and over again, but one has to ...

Wedding Makeup Dos...

Image
Choosing the appropriate makeup for a wedding can be a daunting task, however with a few pointers one can easily have the perfect makeup for this special day!  .Rule #1 Make sure that you have a foundation that matches your skin tone.Wearing a foundation that is too light or too dark than your skin tone will make you look washed out and or ashy. .Rule #2 You need to keep everything subtle, ie subtle lipstick, subtle eye makeup, subtle blush, etc. You have to use a very light hand and shades that reflect light on the face to give a glowing blushing bride look.Sticking to nude/barely there tones is probably the  best way to go. In a nutshell, stay away from dark makeup.  .Rule #3 Keep the hair away from your face. It's your big day and you certainly want to look your very best therefore try and keep the hair as far away from the face as possible. This will definitely highlight your face and lovely makeup. Tying back the hair is also classy and ...

Sleek Lipstick Review

Image
Sleek lipsticks are my absolute favs! They are affordable and last long on the lips. I have tried stiletto, fuchsia, mulberry and cherry. All I can say is wow! Stiletto is matte but very moisturizing and looks great on most skin tones. Mulberry is really dark but also very flattering on both dark and light skin tones. It's great for a night out on the town! Cherry is good for both day and night and best for the sophisticated modern day woman.I wear it pretty much everyday:) Fuchsia is a cross between modest and high fashion haha...the distinction is very subtle and largely depends on how much you apply. I have used it on a bride on her big day and she looked amazing! I'm gonna try and get hold of the rest of these lipsticks because so far I am absolutely loving the ones I have tried :)

Aloha!!!!

Image
Hi guys! Soo this is my very first post (yay!) and I am really excited. This is something that I have been planning to do for a very long time but I just kept on postponing. The main reason why I kept postponing was that I really couldn't decide on a particular area of interest to focus on, like I stated in my self introduction section I am passionate about a lot of things and I really want to try and write about as many things as possible. I also want to share some of my life experiences, moments that I loved, hated ,regret and so on. I believe I speak for a lot of people when I say life is not always a bed of roses, therefore I want this to be a platform where people can feel 'normal' and understand that sometimes certain situations are not only peculiar  to them.So basically this blog is a mixed bag so to speak. Whenever I think of something and feel like sharing it I will just put it down here. So there you have it guys, my blog in a nutshell......
