Finding the Right Foundation Shade
Hi there, I hope I find you well. Thank you for stopping by and taking time to read. Well, let’s get straight into the business of the day which is picking the right shade of foundation. Finding the right shade is a struggle for a lot of people. I struggled with it myself for quite a while until I discovered a few ways of finding the right shade for my tone. I always picked a shade lighter or a shade darker, but never the right one. The lighter ones made me look ashy whilst the dark ones weighed down my face and took away the warmness of my skin tone. So here are a few tricks that you can use to help you find the right shade of foundation.
1. Firstly, you need to know your skin undertone. Basically there is the warm undertone and the cool undertone. A warm undertone can be red, orange or yellow. Whilst a cool undertone can be blue or green . Most foundations are therefore made to suit the different skin undertones. Knowing one’s skin undertone will certainly make finding the right shade easier.
2. Knowing your skin type. It’s important to know if your skin is dry or oily. Foundations for dry and oily skin tend to have different shades. This is a personal observation based on the foundations that I have used. Therefore using the right formulation for your skin type will be beneficial in the long run.
3. The right shade should disappear into the skin. It should not the streaky, but invisible. Then you will know that you have the right shade. Believe it or not, but foundation is not meant to be visible. If it’s visible, then it’s probably not the right shade.
4. When looking for a foundation shade only test on the face. Testing on any other part of the body will not be a good idea. The texture and complexion on the hand will usually not be the same as on the face. Therefore to avoid getting the wrong shade, it is better to test on the face.
5. Finally, do not judge by simply looking through the bottle. Oh my word that is the worst thing to do. Ask for a sample, try it, then you will know if it is the right shade for you or not. Some foundations will look like the right shade whilst in the bottle, but when applied it will look different.
Well that is it for now, once again thank you so much for stopping by.
